Is your engineering promotion case ready?

Use this checklist before turning your evidence into a promotion packet. It assesses whether the case is clear, supported, sustained, and mapped to the target level. Your selections stay in this browser tab—they are not uploaded or saved.

Target level

You know what decision the evidence needs to support.

Use your company framework where one exists; do not rely on a job title alone.

For example: “influences several teams” becomes named decisions, teams, and adoption evidence.

Resolve disagreement before assembling a finished packet.

Evidence quality

Your examples explain contribution and outcome, not only activity.

Each should cover context, your action, outcome, and scope.

Credit the team while identifying the judgement or responsibility that was yours.

Use metrics, documents, feedback, incidents, releases, or other traceable references.

Scope and consistency

The record shows reliable operation at the next level.

A cross-team criterion needs cross-team evidence, not several examples inside one ticket.

One exceptional project may prove capability but not yet consistency.

Consider judgement, reliability, influence, mentoring, communication, and learning where relevant.

Decision readiness

A reviewer can understand the case and its remaining limits.

State the recommendation and strongest evidence without making the reviewer reconstruct it.

An honest gap is more credible than leaving reviewers to discover and frame it.

General praise is weaker than feedback tied to a decision, behaviour, or outcome.

Build the case continuously

Fennec stores the evidence, career criteria, feedback, and review material behind these checks so gaps are visible before promotion season.
